The Most Challenge Is What POM Valve Body Parts CNC Machining Manufacturing?

Both PC base and POM valve body need to be assembled with other parts and electronic devices to make the whole hole circulate. The whole device is suitable for medical applications — offering environmental protection, rigidity, and insulation. Most of the time, we consider injection molding; however, for verified rapid prototypes and low-volume production, we utilize vacuum casting and CNC milling to save time and cost.

    ⚠️

The big valve body has more runners — including straight and inclined holes. POM material is very easy to deform. The six up-and-down holes are not in a straight line, yet all holes must connect and circulate. The upper hole size is 8mm, the lower hole size is 6mm, and there are 6 inclined holes. We have to rotate 5 different locations for machining.

    Production Capability

    • Own high-precision 5-axis CNC machining center and CNC lathe (tolerance: ±0.02mm)
    • 5 sets of 5-axis CNC machining centers and 20 sets of CNC milling & turning machines
    • Secondary finishing processes: anodizing, powder coating, painting, Alodine, PTFE coating, and more
±0.02mm Tolerance 5-Axis CNC PMMA Machining POM Valve Body Low-Volume Production

How to Develop and Machine the Complex POM Valve Body Parts?

All medical parts require raw materials that comply with RoHS and FDA certification. Some electronic medical devices require PC or POM materials due to weight advantages and superior material performance compared to metal. All plastic materials are sourced from PMMA and POM, with a few components made from 6082 aluminum.

    • Used 3D printing to test and verify features before the CNC machining process
    • Applied 3D simulation programs to simulate the machining process and reduce risk
    • Set up after-machining processes including polishing and thorough cleaning
    • Established a rigorous machining process and inspection standard for consistent quality

    Frequently Asked Questions
What materials are used for POM Valve Body CNC machining?
The primary materials used are PMMA (acrylic) and POM (polyoxymethylene/Delrin). In some cases, 6082 aluminum is also used for select components. All materials comply with RoHS and FDA certification requirements for medical device applications.
What is the typical lead time for POM Valve Body CNC machining orders?
For a standard order of 50 sets, the lead time is approximately 12 days. Lead time may vary depending on part complexity, quantity, and finishing requirements. Please contact us with your specific project details for an accurate timeline.
What tolerance can you achieve for PMMA and POM CNC machined parts?
Our high-precision 5-axis CNC machining centers and CNC lathes can achieve tolerances of ±0.02mm. This level of precision is critical for medical-grade components that require tight-fitting assemblies and reliable fluid circulation.
Why is POM material challenging to machine for valve body parts?
POM is prone to deformation during machining, especially when complex multi-directional holes are involved. For valve body parts, the up-and-down holes are not aligned in a straight line, and all channels must interconnect precisely. This requires 5 different rotational setups on a 5-axis CNC center to complete the machining accurately.
Do you support rapid prototyping before full CNC machining production?
Yes. We use 3D printing to test and verify part features before committing to CNC machining. We also run 3D simulation programs to model the machining process and minimize risk. This ensures that the final CNC machined parts meet all design and functional requirements.
What secondary finishing processes are available for CNC machined plastic parts?
We offer a range of secondary finishing processes including polishing, cleaning, anodizing, powder coating, painting, Alodine treatment, and PTFE coating. For PMMA parts, transparency finishing is available to maintain optical clarity after machining.
