Custom PMMA Connector, PMMA filter, POM Valve Body CNC Machining — delivering high-precision plastic components for demanding applications.

The Most Challenging Aspects of POM Valve Body CNC Machining

Both the PC base and POM valve body must be assembled with other parts and electronic devices to form a complete circulating system. The whole device is designed for medical applications, meeting environmental protection standards while providing rigidity and insulation. While injection molding is often considered, rapid prototyping and low-volume production require vacuum casting and CNC milling to save time and cost.

Key Machining Challenge: The large valve body features multiple complex runners — including straight and inclined holes — and POM material is highly prone to deformation. The six holes (top and bottom) are not aligned in a straight line, yet all must interconnect. The upper hole is 8mm, the lower is 6mm, with 6 inclined holes requiring 5 different rotational setups for complete machining.

Production Capability for PMMA Connector & POM Valve Body CNC Machining:

    • High-precision 5-axis CNC machining center and CNC lathe (tolerance: ±0.02mm)
    • 5 sets of 5-axis CNC machining centers and 20 sets of CNC milling & turning machines
    • Secondary finishing: anodizing, powder coating, painting, Alodine, PTFE coating, and more

How to Develop and Machine Complex POM Valve Body Parts

All medical parts require raw materials compliant with RoHS and FDA certification. Electronic medical devices often specify PC or POM material for components due to their lighter weight and superior material performance compared to metals. Plastic materials used are primarily PMMA and POM, with a small portion made from 6082 aluminum.

    • Used 3D printing to test and verify part features before CNC machining
    • Applied 3D simulation of the machining process to reduce manufacturing risk
    • Established a complete after-machining process including polishing and cleaning
    • Set up rigorous machining process standards and inspection protocols

    Precision PMMA CNC Machined Parts
    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What materials are used for POM Valve Body CNC machining?
The primary materials are POM (Polyoxymethylene) and PMMA (acrylic). A small portion of components may use 6082 aluminum. All materials comply with RoHS and FDA certification requirements for medical device applications.
What is the typical tolerance achievable for POM and PMMA CNC machined parts?
Our high-precision 5-axis CNC machining centers and CNC lathes can achieve tolerances of ±0.02mm, ensuring tight-fitting assemblies for medical and electronic device components.
Why is CNC machining preferred over injection molding for low-volume POM valve body production?
For rapid prototyping and low-volume production, CNC machining avoids the high tooling costs of injection molding. Combined with vacuum casting, it significantly reduces lead time and cost while still validating part design and functionality.
How do you handle POM material deformation during machining?
POM is prone to deformation, especially in complex multi-hole valve bodies. We use 5-axis CNC machining with 5 different rotational setups to machine all intersecting straight and inclined holes accurately, minimizing stress and deformation throughout the process.
What finishing options are available for CNC machined plastic parts?
We offer a range of secondary finishing processes including polishing, cleaning, anodizing, powder coating, painting, Alodine, and PTFE coating. PMMA parts can be finished to optical transparency as required.
What is the lead time and minimum order quantity for custom POM or PMMA CNC machined parts?
Lead time for a typical order of 50 sets is approximately 12 days. We support low-volume production with flexible order quantities, and our team can provide a tailored quote based on your part complexity, material, and required tolerances.
