What's The Project Challenge?
🔍 Complex Product Features: The main challenge is that the product features are very complex. Each surface must be machined one by one, and all parts need to be assembled and serve their functional purpose.
🛠️ Advanced Tooling Required: Our engineering team had to use extended cutting tools, 5-axis and 3+2 axis CNC milling machines to complete the work. When rotating to different angles, all threaded holes must be precision-machined to ensure proper assembly.
How To Understand and Make The Parts?
First, we conducted a careful design overview to understand the parts and suggest improvements when possible. Then, we applied Positive Material Identification (PMI) to test the composition of the alloys used in the tools and parts.
The first run of prototypes was CNC machined from aluminum in a 5-step process:
- CNC Program the Machines
- Engineering Review and Improve the Codes
- Mount the Workpiece on the Machine and Adjust the Setup
- Monitor Production and All Functions
- Adjust the Cutting Programs When Necessary
These practices are typically repeated in any CNC machining project; the cutting programs used are unique for each part. We had to consider things like machine type, part geometry, tool type, and raw material.
The prototypes were sent to our model shop and trusted partners for polishing (reflective and shiny appearance), powder coating (durable protective finish), and silver anodizing (beautiful clear finish that enhances resistance to corrosion and wear).
How To Develop and Manufacture CNC Machining Electronic Housing Components
Most automotive parts CNC machining includes rapid prototyping and volume production. When making 1–3 prototypes, we consider using 5-axis CNC machines and turn-mill combinations to manufacture them, followed by after-machining finishing processes — making the overall manufacturing cost more complex.
Automotive parts require us to consider the entire process: from single-part machining, surface coating, to final assembly. This is a very comprehensive and complex process.
⚡ We are dedicated to rapid prototyping and low-volume production for automotive parts, providing fast feedback and delivery with high quality.
📦 We can manufacture the full range of automotive CNC machined parts — whether you need 1 piece or more than 100 pieces, we can meet your requirements.
