Production Capability For Medical Devices Products CNC Machined Manufacturer

Own 5 sets 5-axis CNC machining centers and 8 3+2 axis CNC milling machines.
2 sets slow-EDM, 2 sets larger Lathe, and 2 sets grinding machines under 0.005mm tight tolerance.
The secondary finishing including anodizing, power coating, chemical nickel-plating and more.

What’s The Project Challenge For The Projects?

The main challenge is the product feature is very complex, we need to machining these surface one by one, and all of parts need be assembled and make function purposed. The materials itself is very hardness, and it is not easy to machining. The single part for special dimensions tolerance is under 0.01mm, ask all of parts can be assembled and functional.

Our engineering team have to use extended cutting tool, and 5 axis and 3+2 axis CNC milling machine to complete them. The parts include multi-angle holes (the 25 holes of the bone plate are distributed in 10 different angles), microchannels (with a width of only 100 μm), and thin-walled structures (with a thickness of 0.55 mm). Also, there are five holes are undercut, and a series of grooves along the tapered these holes are accurate hole under concentricity and tolerance control.

    Deformation Control

Thin-walled parts are prone to deformation due to cutting force or clamping force. Therefore, flexible vise clamping and staged processing (coarse/semi-finish/finish machining carried out in stages) are required. 410. For example, in the processing of aluminum alloy medical accessories, process optimization is needed to reduce the deformation rate from 5% to below 0.3%.

    Quality traceability system

It is necessary to achieve full lifecycle data recording, including material batches, processing parameters, test reports, etc., to meet medical standards such as ISO 13485。

    Cost and Efficiency Balance

Customers often demand competitive prices including material, and machining process, Creatingtec offers these suggests to customers for review. For example, high-precision processing takes a long time (such as the total processing time for bone plates reaching 1 hour and 11 minutes), and efficiency needs to be improved through automation (such as the double workstation system of Beijing Jingzhuo).

How To Understand and Make The Parts?

First, we conducted a careful design overview to understand the parts and suggest improvements when possible. Then, we applied Positive Material Identification (PMI) to test the composition of the alloys used in the tools and parts.

    Fabricating The Prototypes

The first run of prototypes was CNC machined from aluminum in a 5-step process:

    1. CNC Program the Machines
    2. Engineering Review and Improve the Codes
    3. Mount the Workpiece on the Machine and Adjust the Setup
    4. Monitor Production and All Functions
    5. Do adjustment the Cutting Programs When Necessary

High precision CNC milling and turning machining

CNC milling process: the mainstream technology achieves complex surface shaping through 5-axis linkage for the curved surface finishing of the actuating support requires a 3mm tool.

    Mirror EDM process

Using the mirror EDM process for these minor undercut feature, as the CNC milling can’t machining these area.

    Polishing process

Will make the surface polishing process to meet the whole product assembly and appearance needs.

    Surface finishing after machining

Titanium alloy, stainless steel parts we need to do sonicleaning.

How To Develop and Manufacturing CNC Machining Medical Device Parts

Most of the medical device parts’ CNC machined machining included rapid prototype and volume production when we make the 2-4 prototype, we have to consider using 5 axis-CNC machines and turn-mill combination to manufacture them, then have after machining finishing process.

So the whole manufacturing cost is very higher.

Medical device parts need us to further consider the whole process from single part machining, surface coating, and assembly, this is one very complex process.

We are dedicated to rapid prototype and low volume production for medical device parts and provide fast feedback and delivery to you with high quality. We want to make whole industry medical device parts CNC machined for you, provide you customized parts whatever you will need 1 pc or more 100pc, we can meet your requirement.

When you have these medical device parts CNC machined inquire or customized parts, you can send out inquire to below email address so our engineer team will discuss with you on each of production details, whatever you will ask 1pc or more 100pc, we will make the best support to you based on cost-effective, tell us your requirement or expectation, our team will make it for you. You can start a new project now.

What’s The Surface Finishing Can Be Done After CNC Machining?

After most of the medical device parts are CNC machined, we will provide good finishing like polishing, anodizing, powder coating, and silk-screen and more.

Actuating Device parts, after CNC milling, turning and EDM process, we will have polishing and sonicleaning process to make it to aesthetic.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What materials do you use for CNC machined medical actuating devices?

We primarily machine medical actuating devices using high-grade biocompatible materials, including Titanium alloy, PEEK, and 316L stainless steel, depending on the specific application requirements.

What is your typical machining tolerance for medical parts?

For high-precision medical components, we can achieve tight dimensions and concentricity tolerances under 0.01mm, and down to 0.005mm on specialized grinding machinery.

How do you prevent deformation when machining thin-walled medical parts?

We use flexible vise clamping systems and optimize our processes through staged machining (coarse, semi-finish, and finish stages). This allows us to significantly reduce the deformation rate (e.g., from 5% to below 0.3% in aluminum parts).

What post-processing surface finishes do you provide for medical devices?

We offer a comprehensive range of finishes including polishing, sonicleaning, anodizing, powder coating, chemical nickel-plating, and silk-screen printing to meet both functional and aesthetic standards.

Do you have a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom medical prototype parts?

No, we have no minimum volume requirements. We support our customers with everything from a single rapid prototype (1 pc) up to low-volume production runs of 100+ pcs.

How does your quality traceability system work?

We maintain full lifecycle data recording for all medical components, tracking raw material batches, processing parameters, and inspection test reports to ensure compliance with medical standards like ISO 13485.
