What's The Project Challenge For The Projects?

The main challenge is the product thickness is 60–90mm, and the feature is heterogeneous, and all parts need to be assembled and made function-purposed.

Our engineering team had to use extended cutting tools, and 5-axis and 3+2 axis CNC milling machines to complete them. When rotating at different angles, all holes and thread holes must be precision-machined and ready for assembly.

How To Understand and Make The Parts?

First, we conducted a careful design overview to understand the parts and suggest improvements when possible. Then, we applied Positive Material Identification (PMI) to test the composition of the alloys used in the tools and parts.

    Fabricating The Prototypes

The first run of prototypes was CNC machined from aluminum in a 5-step process:

    1. 1CNC Program the Machines
    2. 2Engineering Review and Improve the Codes
    3. 3Mount the Workpiece on the Machine and Adjust the Setup
    4. 4Monitor Production and All Functions
    5. 5Do Adjustment to the Cutting Programs When Necessary

These practices are typically repeated in any CNC machining project; the cutting programs used are unique for each part. We had to consider things like machine type, part geometry, tool type, and raw material.

The prototypes were sent to our model shop and trusted partners for:

    • Polishing — to achieve a reflective and shiny appearance.
    • Powder Coating — to achieve a more durable protective finish.
    • Silver Anodizing — to create a beautiful clear finish that enhances resistance to corrosion and wear.

How To Develop and Manufacturing CNC Machining Aeroplane Parts

Most of the aeroplane parts' CNC machining includes rapid prototype and volume production. When we make 2–4 prototypes, the feature and material require us to specify the material supplier, such as 7075, 7475, 2024, and more.

Aeroplane parts require us to further consider the whole process — from single part machining, surface coating, to assembly. This is a very complex process, so our engineering team needs to make a detailed DFM (Design for Manufacturability) report before production.

We are dedicated to rapid prototype and low volume production for aeroplane parts and provide fast feedback and delivery with high quality. These aeroplane features require us to use 5-axis CNC milling to complete.

When you have aero parts CNC machined inquiries or customized parts, you can send your inquiry to our email address so our engineering team will discuss with you on each production detail — whether you need 1 pc or more than 50 pcs, we make the best support to you based on cost-effectiveness. Tell us your requirement or expectation, and our team will serve it for you. You can start a new project now.

What's The Surface Finishing Can Be Done After CNC Machining?

After most of the aeroplane parts are CNC machined, we will provide quality finishing options:

    🔵

    Anodizing & Powder Coating
Standard finishing for most aeroplane CNC machined parts.

    🔧

    Shaft House & Engine Mount
After CNC turning and lathe, polishing and hard anodizing are applied for aesthetics.

    🔩

    Tube Fittings
Completed with 3+2 axis CNC machining center, followed by hard anodizing to protect the surface.

    Frequently Asked Questions
What material is used for the Shaft House and Engine Mount aeroplane parts?
The Shaft House and Engine Mount parts are made from 7075-T7531 aluminum alloy, which is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent machinability, and strong resistance to stress corrosion — making it ideal for demanding aeroplane applications.
What CNC machining capabilities do you have for aeroplane parts?
We operate 5 sets of 5-axis CNC machining centers and 8 sets of 3+2 axis CNC milling machines, along with 2 sets of slow-EDM, 2 larger lathes, and 2 grinding machines capable of tolerances under 0.005mm. This allows us to handle complex geometries and tight-tolerance aeroplane components.
What surface finishing options are available after CNC machining?
After CNC machining, we offer a range of surface finishing options including anodizing (standard and hard anodizing), powder coating, and polishing. These processes enhance the aesthetic appearance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of the parts.
Can you handle both rapid prototyping and volume production for aeroplane parts?
Yes. We specialize in both rapid prototyping and low-to-medium volume production for aeroplane parts. Whether you need a single prototype or up to 50+ pieces, our team provides cost-effective solutions with fast turnaround and detailed DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reports before production begins.
How do you ensure the precision and quality of complex aeroplane parts?
Our engineering team conducts a thorough design review and applies Positive Material Identification (PMI) to verify material composition. We use extended cutting tools and multi-axis CNC machines to precisely machine complex geometries, and every part undergoes strict quality inspection to ensure all dimensions, thread holes, and assembly features meet specifications.
How do I start a new aeroplane parts CNC machining project with Creatingtec?
Simply send your project inquiry along with your 2D and 3D drawings to our team. Our sales and engineering team will review your requirements, provide a detailed DFM report, and offer an affordable quote with no minimum order quantity.
